Wedding Bells

To my brother Daniel and his new wife Adrienne: CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

I'm just barely beginning to recover from all the hustle I went through last weekend. My brother's wedding went fine, and we all seemed to have a good time and enjoy ourselves. We had a chance to connect between families on the 4th. We hung out at my brother's new house and ate and chatted and played. I flew back to Houston on Monday, and the traffic wasn't too bad for a national holiday. Only one fussy 3-year old girl next to me to bother with on my flight, and she eventually fell asleep. :-)

I almost freaked out when I realized that I had forgotten my guitar at my hotel on the day of the wedding, because I planned to play it to accompany Helen on a song for the ceremony. I finally figured out that I could play the piece on piano (which I haven't touched for a few years), and I didn't freeze or screw up too much during the performance. Whew! I actually like the piano version quite a bit.

This week at work has also been a bit difficult, but I am working through it and I think I will come out ahead by tomorrow. I'm trying to create a "best practices" system for future use even though the project I have on right now doesn't really benefit from it much. It will pay off later. We have two new hires joining the team over the next few weeks, so some of the work will get spread out a bit. Sethu and I will have to induct them into the various messes they will be in charge of. ;-)

I got an email from the technology architecture group describing the various future directions that the firm is taking with respect to technology choices. It is very thorough, and recommends stuff that I feel very comfortable with, which is good I suppose. :-) I'd bet some large software and hardware providers would love to see it, hmm?

I bought tickets to return to Massachusetts at the end of July, returning on August 8. Helen and Ian and I will be camping in southern New Hampshire. I used Expedia, and they had better flight combos than either Priceline or Orbitz. I still get a bit nervous before booking flights because I never know if they have flights at the times I want. I am prepared to make compromises, but this time I have two non-stop flights with dinner at good evening departure times. Wee-Ha!
